Tuffaceous Sedimentary Rocks of Aring Formation





Aring Formation is introduced by Aw Peck Chin after Sungai Aring, Gua Musang and formally refer to the volcanic and calcareous rocks, found in the Aring area. This formation was included into the Gua Musang Formation by Kamal Roslan. Aring Formation is composed mainly of pyroclastic rocks, minor lavas (andsite) and arggilite. The pyroclastic rocks are made up of crystal-lithic tuff, fine-grained tuff, tuffaceous sedimentary rocks, aphanitic tuff, minor lapili tuff and volcanic breccia. The age of this formation ranges from Upper Carboniferous to Lower Triassic based on fossil evidences.
