Triassic spiriferinid brachipod from Aring, Kelantan



A newly discovered Anisian (Middle Triassic) brachiopod from the Telong Formation in Aring area, southern Kelantan is recorded for the first time. The most remarkable of this discovery, besides found associated with Middle Anisian ammonoid, is the first discovery of Triassic brachiopod in Malaysia. This brachiopod is belong to the spiriferinid genus i.e. Pseudospiriferina cf. multicostata Yang & Xu which is represent Pelsonian-Illyrian of Late Anisian (Middle Triassic).
